FanBants provides weekly rankings of the most in-form players in the English Premier League.
Here’s the updated rankings for Gameweek 9 of the EPL:
Erling Haaland (0 points) =
Credit where credit is due, the Wolves defence did a good job of keeping Erling Haaland quiet.
Nevertheless, the Norwegian still tops this list as very few attackers are on his level.
Up against Southampton this weekend, we expect Haaland to return with a bang.
2. Cole Palmer (9.25 points) =
Also retaining his spot from last week, Cole Palmer had an uncharacteristically quiet day against Liverpool.
Despite not registering a goal contribution, Palmer had a decent game, completing 90% of his passes and winning the ball back four times.
At home against Newcastle, Palmer should rack up points this weekend.
3. Heung-Min Son (19.25 points) [NEW]
A new entry in the power ranking, Son has been unplayable in the last few weeks.
The South Korean forward has recorded five goal contributions in his last five Premier League games, with three coming in his last two starts.
In 70 minutes against West Ham last week, Son took five shots, provided two key passes and scored a goal.
4. Dwight McNeil (15.75 points) +3
As we pointed out in last week’s power rankings, Dwight McNeil is currently one of the best creators in the Premier League.
The 24 year old continued his impressive run of form, completing two key passes, maintaining an 88% passing accuracy rate, and taking two shots while delivering an assist.
He’s definitely evolving into a solid creator, and one you might consider to add to your FanBants team.
5. Bryan Mbuemo (5.5 points) -2
Following Brentford’s loss to Manchester United, Bryan Mbuemo has dropped two spots in this list.
Although the Cameroonian winger endured a difficult time in front of goal, only taking one shot in the entire game, he contributed a lot more in attack.
Delivering 100% of his attempted crosses, making two key passes and dribbling his opponents four times.
He also put in a shift off the ball, winning the ball back 7 times, blocking two shots and making one clearance.
6. Luis Diaz (4.25 points) -2
Luis Diaz drops two spots despite Liverpool beating Chelsea last weekend.
Arne Slot limited the Colombian winger to just 24 minutes last week, preferring to start Cody Gakpo instead.
In that cameo, Diaz struggled to show glimpses of his usual magic. He only took two shots, and completed a single successful take on.
7. Mohamed Salah (22.25 points) + 2
Up two spots from last week, Mo Salah is up against one of his favorite teams this weekend.
Salah has scored 10 goals and assisted another two, in 12 starts against Arsenal, so that means he is averaging a goal contribution per appearance, an absolutely ridiculous stat!
With the Gunners looking thin at the back, and Liverpool riding on their victory over Chelsea, don’t put it past Salah to get his customary goal contribution.
8. Nicolas Jackson (11.5) [NEW]
Despite losing to Liverpool last time out, Nicolas Jackson put in a decent shift leading the line for Chelsea.
The Senegalese forward had a tough time breaking down the tightest defence in the league, but still managed to take two shots, one of which was the equalizer against Liverpool.
As Newcastle visit Stamford Bridge this weekend, Jackson will be looking to add to his 5 goals in the league.
9. Morgan Rogers (13.5) [NEW]
Morgan Rogers is one of the most exciting youngsters in the Premier League at the moment.
He functions as an outlet for Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, using his powerful running to create chaos for opposition defenses.
His goal against Aston Villa takes him up to four goal contributions this season.
He’s definitely a player to lookout for in updated rankings in the coming weeks.
10. Mikkel Damsgard (12.5 points) [NEW]
Our final new entry on this week’s rankings is Brentford’s Mikkel Damsgard.
While most eyes are on Bryan Mbuemo and who has been grabbing goals for the bees, Damsgard has also played a key role at Brentford this season.
The Dane possesses excellent technical ability, providing a real threat from set plays.
Damsgard has assisted three goals from corner kicks, with Ethan Pinnock scoring in back to back games thanks to his dangerous corners.
He’s started the season well, and we think he can only get better.
